Important things in our personal walk with God

There are many many important things in our personal walk with God as we grow daily in Him, however there are 4 main important things that we should always remember and come back to reflect, review our personal walk with Him.



1.Word of God -

John 1:1 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". Knowing God and loving God is to obey His commands as written in 1 John1:3-5 and

1 John 5:3. Therefore, in order to have and build a relationship with God, we need to know Him as a person -who is He? (His names), what does He do? ( His recorded stories), what did He say? ( His commands, His likes and dislikes, His promises etc.)



God is a promise keeper, meaning He is a God of His words. In order to HOLD on to His words and claim His promises and blessings, you and I need to read His words daily, even if it means 1 verse a day.



2. Worship -

More than just singing gospel songs, listening to gospel music, its the way we live our lives. Are our lives pleasing, holy and acceptable to Him? *Hebrews 12:14 , are we living in peace with men? Holiness is required as God is holy, and its also a pre-requisite to see the Lord.



How should we live our lives? 2 Tim 2: 14-16, 20-26; 2 Peter 3:11-12



3. Prayers -

1Thessalonians 4:2 "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."

1Thessalonians 5:16-18" Be joyful always; pray continually,give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."



Prayer can be submitting to God an area of weakness, repenting of sin, your whole self (telling God that apart from Him you are nothing). It can be submitting an issue, a request unto God to seek His divine help in. It can also be just merely telling God the things that has happened in the day, how you feel about it, asking Him what He thinks about it (chit-chating with the Almighty).

But devote yourselves to prayer, pray continually, so that we are in fellowship with God at all times. Pray for yourself and the people around you unceasingly.



4. Works -

Works are service to God, serving God and serving man. Being faithful in the first 3 areas, im sure we will all become men and women of great faith and knowledge, however, we cannot neglect the area of serving God and man. James 2:14-26 clearly summarises that faith without deeds are useless and dead. Our faith and action must and have to work together. If we are just holy people who gather together weekly to pray and bless God, bless one another, without acting out our faith by reaching out to the lost, by preaching the Word of God, by praying unceasingly for God's will to be done (all shall not perish but have eternal life), then our faith and us are useless and equivalent as dead.



Don't make sense, think about this, when we pray, we expect God to move right? What if God did move, but we did not, will we reap the fruits? will we see the mountains move?



In later posts, i will further elaborate on each one of it. For now, spend some time to reflect on your personal walk with God. Are your 4 main pillars strong or weak? Are they equally tall or are of different height as you focus more on one than the other?



Dear Lord, humble us in our walk with You, revive the love of Your word in our hearts once again. Teach us to pray unceasingly, grant us the directions and desire to serve You as we serve Your people. Search our hearts Lord, and if there are things in us that are pungent to You, Lord,i ask that You cleanse us with Your written word and by your Holy Spirit, wash us clean once again. We ask all this in Jesus most precious name, Amen.
